Wilbur Leon Gage "Peanie" passed away in Portland, Oregon on January 6, 2014 at the age of 89. Wilbur was born in Fremont, Nebraska on March 10, 1925 to Wilbur L and Katherine (Johnson) Gage. Wilbur was married to Charlotte May Armstrong on June 18, 1948. He was a graduate of Oregon State University. Wilbur served in the US Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart among other medals and citations. After the war he worked for PacifiCorp (Pacific Power and Light) for 36 years. Wilbur and Charlotte made their home in Portland. He enjoyed fishing, wood working and reading and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Portland. A devoted father, Wilbur had pet names for all the children in his life. Wilbur is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughters, Julie and Marisue Gage; a grandson, Steve and Great Grandson, Abram. A Memorial Gathering will be held on January 24, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Temple Baptist Church, 1319 NE 7th Avenue in Portland. Private family interment was at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to the 94th Infantry Association, The Humane Society of Oregon or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Hustad Funeral Home.
