Waldo "Wally" R. Bunker, 75, passed away on January 7, 2013 in Portland. Wally was born on June 15, 1937 in Long Beach, Washington to Glendon and Agnes Bunker. When he was 12, Wally moved with his family to Longview, Washington where he graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1955. He moved to Portland in 1956 and later in 1959 drove truck on the North Slope in Alaska. He returned to Portland in 1961 and drove truck for Eatch Construction and a few other firms until he purchased his own truck in 1979. Wally then owned and operated W.R. Bunker Trucking until his retirement in 1990. He was married to Nell Young in Portland in 1975. Wally loved to go Spring Salmon Fishing on Sauvie Island. He enjoyed gardening and yard work and was very proud of his roses. Wally was an avid fan of NASCAR and Funny Car Races. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nell. He is also survived by a Daughter, Cathy Galbraith; a Brother, Glenn Bunker and a Sister, Jeanette Stupfel. A Memorial Gathering will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Hustad Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow. Inurnment will be private.
