Obituary

Vivian was born to William & Sarah Baker in Winner, South
Dakota. The family moved to Pierre, South Dakota, where
Vivian spent her school years.
Vivian was introduced to Willis Black by his sister. Vivian &
Willis, continued their courtship, while both attended
"Open Bible institute" in Des Moines, lowa. They married
June 8, 1943.
After Vivian, completed her course, & received her
diploma in General Evangelistic & Ministerial Studies, the
couple moved back to Pierre, South Dakota to raise their
family.
ln 1966 they moved to Portland, OR & lived in the St.
Johns area. They faithfully attended St. Johns Assembly of
God Church for many years. ln later years of her life,
Vivian attended Portland Christian Center.
She could be found almost every summer day, working in
her yard full of roses, & other flowers. She enjoyed when
neighbors would stop by to say hello.
Vivian was proceeded in death by her husband Willis, in
L993 after 50 years of marriage. As well as one grandson,
Jamie Schatz, & three sisters.
She is survived by her three children, Sharon Schatz (Al) of
Des Moines, lowa, Jerry Black (Carol) & Carolyn Giggers
(Keith) of Portland. Also 6 Grandchildren, Jodi Scott
(Stuart), Lori Miller (Andy), Curtis Black (Christine), Donald
Black, Gary Black (Jeanette), & Harmony Giggers.
Additionally blessed with 6 Great Grandchildren, & 3 Great
Great Grandchildren.
Through Vivian's 99 years of life, her love of God was
priority. He was her strength & source of help. Spending
time with family gave her great joy. She blessed us with
great love, & we all loved her dearly.
