Toni Jeanne O'Neil (nee Towsley) 1946 ~ 2013 - Toni Jeanne O'Neil, 66, passed away on May 7, 2013 in Payson, Utah surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren after a short illness. Toni was born in Portland, Oregon, to Audrey Mackay' Bitton and John Towsley. With her husband Wilford PHB O'Neil (deceased 1995), they raised three children. Toni grew up in NE Portland and attended David Douglas High School. She attended Portland State University and she, along with her husband, worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Toni was raised in the LDS faith and her family comes from a long tradition of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She recognized the truth and the influence that the priesthood of the Church holds and often reaffirmed this belief to her children and grandchildren. Toni had a great love of reading and from an early age, could be found tirelessly reading book after book, which continued throughout her life. She had straight-forward personality that will remain a defining characteristic for many who knew her but this was coupled with her loving generosity, exampled by the time she spent after retirement with her family and her efforts making countless baby blankets and quilts for her grandchildren. Toni was preceded in passing by her husband and parents. She is survived by her three loving children Kevin Clay, Kristin (Lyle), and Kristopher and her 8 grandchildren: Zoie, Sydney, Sarah, Savannah, Stuart, Spencer, Wilford II, and Aurelius. At Toni's request, she will be laid to rest along with her husband, Wilford PHB O'Neil, and close to her parents, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. There will be a graveside service only held on Friday, May 24, 2013, at 2 pm. Toni's final days were spent with her family, her children and grandchildren, in relative peace and comfort as she began her transition to the next life. Her family is grateful for this and our sadness at her parting is softened by these final memories that they shared together, made possible by the life of their mother and grandmother, Toni Jeanne O'Neil. She will be missed and remembered fondly until we are all reunited again.
