Mrs. Tokuko Ngiratarang Orak, age 81, passed away on Saturday, June 12,
2021 , in Portland, Oregon surrounded by the love of her family.
Tokuko was born in Ngaraard State in the beautiful island nation of Palau on
August 10, 1940. Her parents Ngiratarang Spis and Omtilou Ngiratarang raised
Tokuko and her siblings in Ngebuked Hamlet, a village of lush forests and
abundant resources.
ln 1958, Tokuko married her husband, Bolwaisei Orak. Soon after, the pair
started a family having their first child, Wilma, in 1958. After that came Wilcy,
William, Wilhelmina, Willain, Wilda, Williander, and Williana. Those children would
go on to have 24 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Tokuko loved
her children and her grandchildren very much; she dedicated her life to them.
She was a gentle mother with a quiet presence. She taught her children to have
a strong work ethic, how to cook, and to always put family first.
Tokuko was a great cook herself and loved cooking for her family and friends.
During the holidays, sometimes she would stay up the whole night just cooking.
Her signature dishes were demok and tama.
She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend to
many. Her loved ones describe her as generous, kind, and quick to smile. She
really liked to help people and always seemed to be happy.
Mrs. Orak's favorite color was red and this was reflected in her lipstick, clothing,
and accessories. Her favorite song was karkiminai, a traditional Palauan song
that she loved to dance to at baby showers and family events.
Tokuko Ngiratarang Orak was preceded in death by her parents, her husband
Bolwaisei, and eleven of her siblings Rdechor, Blorang, Umai, Sakuma, Rolmii,
Tumakreng, Olikong, Sadang, Ksanosang, ldechong, and Aiko.
She is survived by her siblings Dilboi and Arkesus as well as her children Wilma,
Wilcy, William, Wilhelmina, Willain, Wilda, Williander, and Williana. Her 24
grandchildren are Bola, Kafiat, Olu, Sadia, Nadia,Faria,Aria, Kanani, Kanali,
Dawn Crystal, Jae Cee, Mae Cee, William Jr., Willard, Sakai, Billy Jo, Kayode,
Kaliber, Kola, Rolmii, Orchid, Filton, Valerie, and Anthony. Her 12 greatgrandchildren
are Alexis, Felana, Aminah, Nila, Bayo, Wyatt, Mason, Karita,
Amelia, Sade, Shakira, and Keanu.

A funeral service will be held at Hustad Funeral Home on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
