Sylvia A. Mori passed away on March 11, 2013. She was born in Hayes, Kansas on October 9, 1935 to Jack and Mildred Dreese. She was raised and educated there as well. Sylvia attended Kansas State University where she received her Teaching Certificate. Sylvia lived briefly in Denver and then taught oversees at Wheelus Air Force Base in Libya where she met Mel Mori. They were later married. They came to Portland in 1961 and she has lived here since. She and Mel later divorced. Sylvia taught 3rd grade at Portland Public Schools in Irvington and then later at James John Elementary School in St. Johns for many years. She retired in 1992. Sylvia enjoyed Bowling, playing Bunco and attending the Oregon Symphony. She loved travelling and caring for her family. Sylvia will be greatly missed by family and friends. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date. She is survived by her son, Dino Mori of Washougal, WA and a brother, Jim Dreese of Hayes, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her son, Kyle Mori in 1992. Arrangements were entrusted to Hustad Funeral Home.
