Suyapa Aracely Rivera-Mendez passed away in Portland, Oregon on November 25th, 2022 at the age of 46 years old.

Suyapa was born on February 2nd, 1976 in La Ceiba, Honduras.

She moved to Portland in 1997 with her son Bryan, and while pregnant with her daughter Kimberly. Years later, after starting a new life in a new country, she gave birth to her son Abdiel and lived a beautiful, wonderful life raising her three children. After growing up being young child with a hard life, doing things like helping raise her younger siblings, she did everything in her power to provide for and protect anyone she loved, and even those she barely knew. She loved to help any and everyone she could. She was a great provider for her family. If you knew her, you knew that when she cared about you she would protect you no matter what. She loved hard in such a beautiful way. She was beautiful inside and out and she shined the bright in every room she walked in. She was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Suyapa was also a well known and beloved member of the Hispanic LGBTQ+ community of Portland, Oregon. She will be missed dearly.

Suyapa is survived by her mother, María Teresa, her siblings, Gloria, Rey, Clari, and Roger, her children, Bryan, Kimberly, and Abdiel, and her grandchildren, Zayanna, Sebastian, Jazlynn, and Adonis.

A memorial service will be held at Hustad Funeral Home, 7232 N. Richmond Avenue, Portland, Oregon on January 17th, 2022 at 1:00 PM.
