Samuel Dwight Powers passed away in his home on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. He was 85 years old. Samuel was born on October 7, 1925 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Elbert and Susan Powers. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Philippines. After the war he came to Portland and was married to Clara Faye Duncan on May 10, 1947. After living elsewhere, they moved to Oregon in 1953 and he has lived here since. Samuel was employed at the Oregon Steel mills until his retirement in 1983. Samuel was a member of the Kenton Masonic Lodge #145, the Scottish Rite - Oregon, the Al Kader Shrine - Oregon, the Minerva Chapter of the O.E.S. #104 and the Early Ford V-8 Car Club of America. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Clara Faye Powers, his Daughter and Son in law, Lynda Faye Stone and Ron. L. Stone and his daughter Lana Diann Powers. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and George and his sister, Revette. At his request, no services will be held. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, should be given to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Portland, Oregon
