Ronald V. Dickson, Sr, was born on October 27, 1933 in Portland to David and Ida Dickson. He was raised in Portland and attended the James John School and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He lived in St. Johns all his life. Ronald attended the University of Portland and then later served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After the military, he returned to Portland and worked as a longshoreman and at Ash Grove Lime. He later became a Safety Compliance Office for OSHA for several years and later took a position at Carolina Casualty as a casualty insurance consultant. He retired in 1986. In his earlier years, Ronald enjoyed coaching his son's little league team. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Al Kader Shriners, The Scottish Rite, The American Legion and the North Portland Eagles Lodge. Ronald also played the French Horn with the Shriners and American Legion bands. He is survived by his children: Bryan Reeves, Jeffri Reeves, Cheryl O'Connor, Ronald V. Dickson, Jr., and Dennis Espinoza Dickson; 12 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. A Funeral will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Hustad Funeral Home Chapel, 7232 N. Richmond Avenue in Portland. Private interment will be at Skyline Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
