IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert T.
Prentice
December 18, 1929 – March 17, 2017
Robert "Bob" Theodore Prentice, 87, Dec 18, 1929; March 17, 2017. Bob was born to Mary and Val Prentice in Portland. He attended Holy Cross Grade School, Benson High School, and received a B.A. in Business from the University of Portland in 1951. While at UofP, Bob was the student manager for the basketball team which lead to a lifetime of supporting Pilot basketball. During his senior year, he met Marianne Kreilich, a Providence Hospital nursing student at one of those games. Bob and Marianne were married August 18, 1951 after both had graduated. Drafted for Korea, Bob served several years in the Army as a radar repairman until he was honorably discharged. After the Army, Bob joined his brothers in the family business of manufacturing plywood mill equipment at E.V. Prentice Company. Starting in accounting, Bob soon moved to sales, a job that allowed him to make many life-long friends. Work required Bob to travel all over the United States, Mexico, and Europe. Although he and his brothers sold the family business in the mid '70s, he continued to work at Prentice for another 20 years. Bob and Marianne raised eight children in their North Portland home of 63 years; Kathy Prentice, Linda (Chuck) Gross, Phyllis (Ariel) Enriquez, Patricia (Jay) Pearce, Pamela (Neil) Erickson, Fr. Ted Prentice, Alan (Ashetra) Prentice, and Glenn (Tessie) Prentice. Always planning a trip, he and Marianne travelled extensively throughout the US, Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. By far, his favorite destination was their family vacation home on Loomis Lake near Long Beach, WA. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Charlie, Tom, Dave, Mary Catherine, and Edward, as well as his daughter Kathy. He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Marianne, brother Dick, seven of his eight children, 20 grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren.
