Anderson, Robert James 28 Aug. 16, 1984 Dec. 11, 2012 Rob was born in Portland and lived most of his life in Vancouver. From a very young age, Rob had a love for all things outdoors. Rob grew up snowboarding, wake boarding, hiking, camping and playing team sports. Athletic endeavors came easy to Rob. He once hiked Mount St. Helens and said, "It was easy, I could have done it twice today." He was hoping to climb Mt. Hood with his sister, Jamie, soon. Rob's biggest passion was white water kayaking. It was the perfect combination for him of studied calculation and adrenaline rush. Rob felt a camaraderie with the kayaking community and had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the places he paddled. When Rob wasn't satisfying his need for adrenaline by jumping off a bridge or paddling over a waterfall, he was a quiet reflective person. He was an avid reader, with Powells Book Store being his favorite indoor place and the public library being his second. Rob had a kind and gentle heart. He was compassionate and wouldn't hesitate a second to help someone in need. Rob is going to be greatly missed by his parents, Jim and Kim Anderson; sister, Jamie; uncle Frank Mildenberger, all of Vancouver; his grandmother, Mary Farlow of St George, Utah; grandparents, George and Viola Anderson of Myrtle Creek; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be a rosary at Hustad Funeral Home in Portland, Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. and services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, St. Johns Catholic Church, Vancouver. All are invited to a reception following.
