RAYMOND RUSSEL PILTZ
November 16, 1934 - October 5, 2023
Raymond was born in Portland, Oregon to Roy & Alyce Piltz, one of seven siblings; Betty Walker, Virginia Smith, Connie Owens, Sam Piltz, Marty Piltz, & Carl Piltz.
He attended James John Elementary and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952.
Raymond married Eleanore Meyen August 11, 1956 at the White Temple Baptist Church in downtown Portland. They have four children: Tracy, Laura, Susan, & Russel. As a couple they traveled to Mexico, Spain, Italy, France, Austria, Portugal, Russia, and golfed in Ireland & Scotland. He was employed at Pacific Resin & Chemicals before working and retiring from Blitz Weinhard Brewery as a warehouseman.
Raymond loved golf most of his adult life and accomplished three holes in one. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid reader. Community service was important to him trying to protect the St John's area as he knew it all his life. He was proud to be the Land-Use chair for the St John's area for many years and was well known as a storyteller with many historic and fun loving memories.
He died after a long and courageous bout with pancreatic cancer and fulfilled his final wishes of being at home with family and seeing his seven grandchildren: Lisa, Michelle, Marcy, Austen, Raymond, Derek, & Dalton, and four great grandchildren: Trenton, Kamiela, Kodi, & Eliana.
He really enjoyed and appreciated the many friends that phoned and came by to visit in his last days of life.
Ray was also a true and loyal friend, his love for others ran deep and long, with friendships that spanned the decades. He also had a love for all dogs. His shared experiences and common sense advice was well received by many. He was known for his great sense of humor, whoop, whoop, whoop! May his infinite wisdom stay with us. Be alert and aware, say please and thank you, and support each other!
No service is planned as per his wishes.
