Nancy was born in Elkins, West Virginia on October 31, 1947.  Nancy moved to Oregon when she was nine years old.  She married James Lester Hodge in Sandy, Oregon at the age of 15.  They had two children, Lori and Tim.  The divorced shortly afterward and Nancy moved to Portland, Oregon and eventually made St Johns her home.

She owned Slim's Restaurant & Lounge for 17 years.  Nancy loved St Johns and offered free dinner buffets at Slim's on all major holidays, so everyone had a place to go.  Nancy was a huge part of the community.  She managed the local Good Samaritan Food Bank for several years. She had a float with a live country band in the St Johns Parade for five years. She sponsored many teams including a men's mush ball team and a Gresham High School Dance Team.  Nancy was a long-time captain and player on two pool teams. She was also longtime member of the Eagles Club in St Johns. Everyone who knew her loved her.

She was a kind soul, and she will be deeply missed.  Nancy entered rest at the age of 75 years old on July 8, 2023, in Portland, Oregon.  Nancy is survived by her sisters: Theresa Camera of Corvallis, Oregon and Sherry Jewell of Dothan, Alabama; her daughter Mary (Lori) Stankewitsch of Portland, Oregon; Son, Tim Hodge of Sandy, Oregon; five grandchildren: J.J. Zimmerman, Amanda Knight, Samantha Gruetter, Tylin Stankewitsch-Ochoa, Damien Stankewitsch and 10 Great Grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents: Oliver and Mary Zirkle and her brothers, Henry and Allen Zirkle.
