Madaline E. (Curry) Evanoff passed away at home on June 24, 2015. She was 92 years old. Madaline was born in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada on February 10, 1923 to James and Ethel Curry. She came to Portland when she was five months old and has lived here since. She attended Our Lady of Sorrows School and St. Mary's Academy. After school she was a swimsuit model for Jantzen and also worked as a "Dipper" at her family's Candy Store, Ed Curry's Candies, which was at SE 43rd and Hawthorne. From 1942 to 1945 Madaline worked as at Time Keeper at Portland City Hall. Madaline was married to Evon Evanoff on July 15, 1945 in Portland. In 1967 she started working as a Cook at Reynolds High School. She retired in 1992. Madaline was an avid baker and gardener. She was crazy about all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and most recently her great great granddaughter, Carolina Lee, but she loved her Boston Terrier, Sophie, most of all! Madaline was prededed in death by her husband, Evon in 2004, a son, James Michael in 1990 and a sister, Mary Curry. She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Dawson and Jolene Brill; Son, Timothy Evanoff; Sisters Patricia Rubich, Ilene Dolores Langwell and Joyce Ann Hankey; Close friends, Babe and Roger McCann. Madaline has 10 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Granddaughter.
