IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lynda Rae
Fordney
May 20, 1961 – July 19, 2025
Lynda Rae Fordney (née Tobin), age 64, of Portland, Oregon, passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Portland on May 20, 1961, Lynda remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, where she was voted "Most Artistic" and contributed original artwork to the school yearbook—a reflection of the creativity that defined her life.
Lynda was the daughter of the late Gayle and John Tobin, and sister to John Tobin II and Mark Tobin. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Deana Marie Tobin, who passed shortly after birth.
She was a devoted wife to Mike Fordney, and a loving mother to Eric Fordney, Crystal Fordney, and Amber Fordney. She cherished her role as "Grandma" to her beloved grandchildren, Zoe and Leo Fordney, and lovingly remembers her late granddaughter, Ruby Fordney.
After retirement, Lynda helped raise her grandson Leo, and her loving influence helped shape the young man he is becoming—he is who he is because of her.
Lynda found joy and peace in nature and artistic expression. She loved painting, gardening, camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors. She was known for her warmth, her creativity, and her wonderful sense of humor, which brought light and laughter to those around her.
A celebration of Lynda's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to breast cancer research.
