Lucille McGarry, known to many as Marion, was born in Portland on October 29, 1932 to Martin and Anna Sovik. She was raised and educated in North Portland and graduated from Commerce High School. She was married to Francis "Jim" McGarry on March 31, 1951 in Vancouver, Washington. Marion was a homemaker in the early years providing care for her children as well as providing child care for neighborhood children. After Jim passed away in 1979, Marion worked as a Home Care Provider for the Visiting Nurses. She retired in 1998. For the last five years, Marion has been battling Lewy Body Dementia and she passed away peacefully on April 11, 2015 at age 82. Marion is survived by her sons: Michael, Phillip and Kelly McGarry; Daughters: Laura Huebner, Ellen Prictchard, Julie McGarry, Chris McGarry and Shannon McGarry. 20 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Marion was preceded in death by her children Jim McGarry and Jeanie Taylor. Contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
