Lorna Mullanix Brown

Lorna was born May 15,1914,in Rollwitz,Nebraska. She passed away at the age of l03 on February 7th,
2018, at the North Star Adult Care home in Portland, Oregon.
Lorna graduaterd from Benkelman High, Benkelman, Nebraska, in May 1933. She then went on to
complete a two-year course of study and practical training in Medical, Surgical and Obstetrical Nursing
at Dr. Stewart's Private Hospital in Stratton, Nebraska. She completed the course in March 1937, She
moved to Oregon and found a nursing job with the Jones Hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon which is now the
Tuality Hospital.
Lorna met Leonard Brown and they were married October 6,1946. She was a stay at home mom while
the children were being raised. They spent most of their life together on a 40-acre farm on Chehalem
Mountain between Hillsboro and Newberg, Oregon. Her husband died in September of 1972. She
eventually moved back to Hillsboro and worked as a Nurse's Aide in the Tuality Hospital till she retired.
Lorna is survived by her daughter, Mary Brown of Portland, Oregon; four sisters, Lavetta Snyder,r
Wynona Springer, Bonnie Mullanix and Shirley Mullanix, all of Benkelman Nebraskal daughter-in-law,
Patti Brown of Tualatin, Oregon; grandchildren, Amy Dane of Eugene, Oregon, Nathan Brown of Eugene,
Oregon, Danielle Merrillof Tigard, Oregon, Jered Brown of Newberg, Oregon; and seven great
grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service is being held at the Bethal Baptist Church, Portland, Oregon on Feb, 15th,
