IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry E.
Price
December 7, 1948 – September 22, 2023
Larry E. Price, 74, of Sauvie Island, Oregon, let his spirit join his ancestors on September 22, 2023, after a very short fight with cancer.
Larry was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia to the lovely Dolores (Kiser) and Army Sgt Delbert Price. After graduating from Stonewall Jackson High, he spent the next 21 years serving his country as an aircraft mechanic in the US Air Force. He continued this career at Learjet in Wichita, Kansas.
Larry met and married Rita (DeBacker) while stationed at McConnel AFB in Wichita. That was the start of 53 years of wedded bliss. During their travels in the Air Force, they expanded their family with Jimmie in Kansas, Michael in Georgia, Rebecca in Germany, and John in Kansas.
Family was the one major enjoyment in life for Larry. He spent many joyful hours with them talking and listening and telling stories (some were VERY tall tales). He loved watching all of them grow and learn. He specialized in teaching them how to make very strange faces and they all excelled. The last quarter century was often spent traveling to spend time with his kids and grandkids, or having them visit him in Oregon. He was also generous to those he knew… sharing time, model trains, guitars, computers, metal detectors and travels.
Jimmie and Galaxy are building a life in North Carolina. Michael and Caylene are currently in Texas and added two wonderful young ladies – Madison and Salvi (aka Renee) to the family. Rebecca and Preston Taylor reside in North Carolina and added five fine young people – Preston II, Emma, Evelyn, William, and James to the family. John and Heather are currently making a good life in Oregon.
Larry has a brother Bob, who lives in Texas, and a brother Rick (with wife Connie), and an Aunt Norma, all of whom still live in Charleston, West Virginia. He spent some wonderful times with them this last year, making excellent memories and reliving older times.
A bunch of loved ones were waiting for him on the other side of the veil… Delbert, Dolores, sister Shirley (Adams), sister Betty, Grandma Ruby, Grandpa Hobe, and a dozen or so aunts, uncles and cousins.
Instead of flowers… consider sending a donation for Calvin Berkinbile, Larry's guitar teacher and friend. It will be used to help with lessons for students who can't keep up with the cost of learning the joys of making music. If you send it to Rita, she'll make sure he gets it.
Instead of a memorial service, Larry requested that you spend some loving, quality time with people you care about and maybe tell some tall tales of yesteryear.
"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
"To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure."
So saith wise Albus Dumbledore
