Kathleen Annise Durst (McDonald), age 64, was born December 29, 1947 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ruth (Wallace) and John McDonald. Her family traveled to many places, but her fondest memories and where she called home were on her aunt's ranch in Cheyanne, Okla. She lived in Tucson, Ariz. with her mother and brothers, John McDonald, Jr. and Calvin McDonald, when she met love of her life, Charles Durst. They married Sept. 4, 1966 after he finished his second tour in Vietnam. Moving to California, Kathleen became a mother for the first time with the birth of her daughter, Holly, in May of 1969. Moving to Oregon, she had three more daughters, Lora in May of 1971, and twins, Andrea and Melanie in November 1974. Her blessings continued with many grandchildren, a dozen in total. Kathleen showed us how truly brave and strong she was as she battled cancer for over 8 years. She died June 27, 2012. Her pain is now in the past, but her love and heart lives on. A memorial and reception for Kathleen will be held on July 7 at 2 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church - 2201 N Rosa Parks Way, Portland.
