John Tobin (Tom) was born in Vancouver, Washington on November 12, 1934. His parents were Dolly and Jack Johnstone. He married Gayle Pearson in December of 1960. They had three children. He was a longtime resident of St. Johns. He moved to SW Portland 10 years ago and returned to St. Johns to reside with his daughter and son-in-law Lynda and Michael Fordney. John worked for Steneo Carbon and Union Carbide in St. Johns. He also worked as a foreman for the Donnelly Orchards in Parkdale, Oregon. He spent a lot of time camping and fishing with family and friends in Valsetz, Oregon, a favorite place of his where he spent some time as a child. Other favorite places to fish were Barview Jetty in Rockaway Beach and Laurance Lake in Parkdale. He also enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his mother Dolly Anders; his sisters, Yvonne Morris and Patricia Harness; Children: Lynda Fordney, John Tobin II and Mark Tobin; His grandchildren, Crystal, Eric and Amber Fordney and Christopher and Corey Tobin. He also has two brothers, Kenneth and Michael Wright.
