IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeremy David
Junkin
May 17, 1980 – December 3, 2023
Jeremy David Junkin, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on December 3, 2023 at 43 years old. He fought a fierce battle with stage four esophageal cancer for 16 months. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Heggem Junkin and son, Ellory Junkin, his mother and stepfather, Deborah and John Pratt, Grandfather, James Varney, sisters, Janelle Junkin, Jessica Moro, and Melinda Kester, and brothers, Timothy Pratt and Aaron Pratt, as well as his two nieces and two nephews, along with his brother-in-law, Matthew Moro, and sisters-in-law, Jenna Kester, April Pratt and Kayleigh Pratt.
Jeremy was an incredible husband and father who deeply loved his wife, Kim, and son, Ellory. He wanted nothing more than to ensure that they were taken care of and knew he loved them.
He and Kim married on August 18, 2013, and had Ellory in May of 2019. Jeremy loved to write and play music on his guitar, ride his bike, go on walks with his family, and be outside in nature. He loved seeing live music and keeping up on the latest movie reviews.
Jeremy, originally of Meriden, Connecticut, was an avid musician, playing guitar, clarinetist, and sang in several bands throughout his life. He wrote his own music and served on worship teams at various churches over the years. Jeremy attended Trinity Christian College in Illinois from 1998 to 2002 and graduated with his bachelor's degree in theology. He had an amazing collection of records as he loved many genres of music and enjoyed listening to his records, finding peace in that experience.
Jeremy was one of the most gentle, caring men to all he knew. Described often as the peacemaker of the family, Jeremy was the middle child, sandwiched between two very outspoken sisters. Thankfully, he had an amazing sense of humor which he wielded through the classic side eye cast towards others and his sarcastic wit.
Jeremy is missed by so many as he made positive impressions on all who encountered him. He was loved, shared love with others, and was a gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We are grateful to have been in his life and glad that he no longer suffers.
The family celebrated Jeremy's life with a service in Portland, Oregon on December 9, 2023. They will host a celebration of life in Connecticut on Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Guests are welcome to come as they are able.
