Obituary

Jennie Padilla

Beloved Mother/Nana/Nanny

October 8, 1945 - August 22, 2021

Jennie Padilla was born in Rock Springs Wyoming to Juan and Mercedes Gomez, the middle child out of 10 kids.  The family lived in Reliance Wyoming, a coal mining town where their father worked. In 1954 their family moved to Worland Wyoming, where their father worked as a farm hand, and the kids worked in the sugar beet fields.  Jennie and her brother Victor were close, and loved playing pranks on their older siblings.

In 1962 Jennie met her ex husband Don Padilla, by September of 1963 they had their first child Sherri, and their second child a year later, son Domingo Ray.  Don and Jennie moved to Portland Oregon, and raised their kids in St Johns in North Portland.  In 1975 Don and Jennie had their 3rd child Angela.

Jennie had jobs in the food service industry.  She worked as a waitress, for years at a Chinese restaurant called The Portland Rose Restaurant, she was considered family with the owners.  She was called mom at the Portland Sports Arena, working the Concession stand.  Her friends at Quality Pie Catering called her FiFi, a special name she carried throughout her life.   Jennie worked with one of her bosses Larry Cervarich at a few different places he was Manager for.  Jennie's last paying job was at The Oregonian, where she worked in the Cafeteria, a one person job cooking and serving the employees of the Oregonian.  Jennie was adored for her warm smile, sweet and kind for always thinking of those that came into her cafeteria, remembering names, special things people loved.  Being able to turn day-old donuts into amazing bread pudding the next day, her cornbread, biscuits and gravy, she made great comfort food!

Jennie was a Social Butterfly, it was guaranteed that if you went somewhere with her, she would always meet someone she knew!  Her friends were plentiful, and always knew that Jennie would tell you how it is, she would not mince words.  Her friends adored her, loved everything about her, she would listen to things they needed to talk about, and have fun laughing.

Jennie's shining lights were her 2 grandsons Dmitri and Brodrick.  She loved them more than anything, to her, they were her world.  Jennie's face would light up talking about how proud she was of both of her grandsons.  Celina and Maddy 2 of her granddaughters she loved from a distance, she loved watching them grow up in pictures, and when they would visit you loved her special time with them.

Jennie is survived by her daughters Sherri Sieh (Jack) and Angela Padilla, Predeceased Domingo Ray Padilla.
