Gordon Lee
Ruddick
January 10, 1929 – July 24, 2016
Gordon Lee Ruddick Sr. went to be with Jesus on Sunday July 24th at Community Hospice Center in Vancouver Washington, following a fall which resulted in a spinal fracture after 8 year battle with Alzheimer's. He lived in St. Johns since 1972.
Gordon was born in Waseca, Minn. To Ray and Myrtle Ruddick, the middle of 5 who was raised in Arkansas. In 1946 he joined the US Navy. In 1947 while on furlough he met Vivian Robbins and they were married in 1948 and had 4 children.
The greatest event in Gordon's life took place in 1960 when he became a Christian. It changed his .and that of his young family forever.
They moved to Portland in 1962 where he attended Multnomah School of the Bible. In 1968 they moved to Haines Oregon where he pastored a church until 1972.
Returning to Portland in 1972 they joined University Park Baptist Church and served by teaching, sometime preaching ,and led home bible studies.
He was also a meat cutter on many of the local groceries stores in the area.
Gordon is survived by Vivian Ruddick, his wife of 68 years; Children: Gordon Ruddick(Patty) Janice Darnold (Jerry) Kathy Turner(Herman)Kris Potter (Jeff); 7 grandchildren and 13 great grand grandchildren. Sister Marie Fortenbury of Longview Washington and several nephews and nieces.
A celebration of his life will be held at University Park Baptist Church on Saturday August 6th at 10:30 A.M. Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
Donations in his honor can be given to University Park Baptist or Community Home Health & Hospice.
