Glodean Marquardt, 88, a resident of Portland, died August 27, 2016, after a brief hospitalization.
A celebration of Glodean's life will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 5:00 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1440 S.E. 182nd Avenue, Portland, Oregon. Private inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, Oregon.
Glodean was born July 30, 1928, on the family farm near Claremont, Minnesota, to Alfred and Alma Grunklee. She graduated from Dodge Center High School and attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. After marriage to Oscar Marquardt on August 26, 1951, they moved to Wyoming where he became the Lutheran pastor of the church in Wheatland. Christian ministry led them to serve parishes in South Sioux City, Nebraska; Cherokee, Iowa; and Gresham and Estacada, Oregon.
Glodean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend to many who needed a friend. She is preceded in death by son, Craig, and husband, Oscar. Survivors include six children and their spouses; Steve and Amy Marquardt of Waseca, Minn.; Barb and Jay Braband of Portland; Scott and Ladine Marquardt of Happy Valley; Jeff and Nancy Marquardt of Denver, NC; Jon and Heather Marquardt of Scappoose; and Julie and Matt Worley of Portland; brother and sister-in law, Alfred and Jackie Grunklee, brother-in-law and wife, Ralph and Ardis Marquardt, and sister-in-law Thelma Wulf, all of Minnesota. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Glodean loved to keep up with the happenings of all the members of her family. Her faith in Jesus, her Savior, was evident to all. She had a love of music and cooking.
