Obituary

Gladys "Pete" Wilson died peacefully on February 20, 2018 in Portland. She was 97.

Pete was born July 11, 1920 in Portland to Ernest and Mary Louanna Wilson. She grew up in St. Johns and moved to San Diego in her 20's, where she had a long and successful career as an executive assistant to the head of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union, which emerged as one of the strongest and most respected unions in the country under the leadership of her boss Max Osslo.

She moved back to Portland when she retired to be near her family and enjoyed travelling both domestic and internationally, going out for meals, doing craft work for charity, and being active in her church. She also enjoyed different kinds of gambling playing Keno, Bingo and going to casinos.

Pete never married but doted on her nieces and nephews who were inspired by her creativity and dedication to her sister Iris, cousin Marge and their families. She is survived by Iris, nieces and nephews and scores of grand nieces and nephews. Pete's life will be celebrated at a funeral mass at noon on Saturday Feb 24 at Holy Redeemer.
