Freda Lee Skinner passedaway August 18th, 2021at age 94.
Freda was born in Bald Knob,Arkansas on April 3rd 1927 to
Dwight and Almar Norton. She was the last surviving sibling of 14 brothers
and sisters who grew up on a farm in central Arkansas. Freda
eventually migrated to Indiana where she met and on
September 12,1950 married John L. Skinner and raised their
two children, Sam and Nancy. In 1965 Freda and family lost
their Indiana home to a Palm Sunday tornado. They decided to move to a different part of
the country and eventually settled in Portland, Oregon. Freda
was a professional seamstress and was employed by several
Portland clothing manufacturers during her working career. Freda was also an
avid gardener and a very active member of St Johns Christian
Church where she was part of the gardening SWAT team. Freda's later years were clouded by
memory loss but she never lost her sense of humor, teasing her
care staff to the end of her days. Freda is survived by her son Sam Skinner; daughter Nancy
Graham (Rodney); grandson Andrew Skinner (JoEllen), granddaughters Jennifer
Adams (Jon), Maureen Houck (Casey), and Della Graham and greatgranddaughters Maisie
Skinner, Mina Skinner, Teagan Houck, and Kinley Houck. She
was predeceased by her husband John Skinner, and daughter in-law Christine Skinner.
Freda's service will take place Monday, August 30, 2021 at St Johns Christian Church, 8044 N Richmond Ave, Portland,
OR at 11:00am There will be a reception after the service at St. Johns Christian Church. A private interment will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland
