Catherine Gewalt passed away peacefully on January 16, 2013 in Meadow Park Health and Specialty Center in St. Helens. She was 98. Catherine was born in Gallatin County, Kentucky on December 19, 1914. She was raised by her grandparents. Catherine came to Oregon in 1965 and has lived here since. She is survived by her children, Virgil Melton, Virginia Bamford and Pearl Young and her Step-Daughter, Carron Johnson as well as a host of grandchildren and other relatives. A private family graveside was held at Columbia Memorial Gardens in Scappoose. Arrangements were entrusted to Hustad Funeral Home.
