Obituary

Eleanor "Jan" Jackson passed away peacefully on March 17, 2019 at the age of 80.  Eleanor was born on November 7, 1938 to Carl and Hazel West in Elbow Lake Minnesota.  In her adolescent years, which were in the midst of the great depression, she traveled with her family while her father was in search of work.  At the age of 14, Eleanor went to live with her aunt in Goldendale, Washington to assist with the care of her children.

It was in Goldendale that she graduated from High School and started a life for herself.  While at a dance at the Maryhill Museum she met the love of her life, Keith Jackson.  Eleanor and Keith (Bud) were married for 49 years until his passing in 2003.  They lived on a 50-acre farm, where they tended to animals, canned produce and started their family: Blessed with five daughters.  In 1963 they moved to Portland, where they raised their daughters and built careers they were very proud of.  At the age of 34, Eleanor obtained her registered nursing degree and began working at Kaiser Permanente in 1972. She spent many years as a nurse, in several different departments and roles.  At the time of her retirement she worked as an advice nurse in OB/Gyn department. She was a well respected and beloved leader in her field.

Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren.  She created countless memories and she loved trips to the beach, camping, smelt fishing, going to parades, gardening and reading romance novels.  She loved her dachshund, Frankie, who was a loving companion.  She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone.

Eleanor is survived by two daughters, Judi Walker and Susan Jackson; Brother, Dale West; Sister, Karen Paredes; Seven Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Hazel West; her loving Husband, Keith Jackson; Her daughters: Lisa White, Jane Frazier and Brenda Jackson; Her sister, Barbara Turner and a granddaughter, Amanda White-Lorenz.
