Dennis Thomas McCormack passed away in his favorite chair on Thursday January 15th at 91 years of age. He was born on May 28, 1923 in Great Falls Montana to William & Catherine McCormack. He was brother to four sisters, Eileen, Nora Helen, Kathleen & Maureen. Dennis graduated High School in 1942, and left Montana for Portland, with the intention of enlisting in the Service. In 1943, he joined the Navy and served during WWII aboard the USS Dashiell, where despite failing typing, he was deemed the only Sailor with enough typewriter experience to keep the Ship's Log. On June 10, 1946, Dennis married Carol Adelaide Anderson. They eventually settled in North Portland where they began their Family. Despite juggling several jobs, including working for Underwood Typewriter, Dennis enrolled in classes at the University of Portland. He graduated in 1960 while working for United Airlines and in 1961 opened Ace Typewriter & Equipment Co in St. Johns, where he worked up until his passing. Dennis is survived by his children - William, Susan Morton (William), Melissa, Mary Therese, Anne, Christopher (Karen), Patrick (Kari), Matthew (Maureen Bachmann) and Maria McCormack. He is survived by his grandchildren, Phillip, Catherine & Carol Morton, Paul & Richard McCormack and Chris & Greg Blomquist. Dennis also leaves behind several great grandchildren and his Dear Friend Darlene Thayer. He was preceded in death by his wife, as well as three of his children Kathleen, Steven and Joseph McCormack. Funeral is 11:00 am, on Friday January 23rd at Holy Cross Church in Portland. Reception immediately following. For those interested, there will be a recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 am.
