Delphine "Del" E. Larson of Portland, Oregon passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on September 17, 2011 in Portland, Oregon. Delphine "Del", the daughter of Cora Solwold and Peter Melbye was born in Hitterdal, Minnesota on April 10, 1927. She attended school in Hitterdal and was baptized and confirmed there in the Lutheran church. In 1942 she moved to Portland, Oregon with her parents. In 1947 she married Loyis "Bud" K. Larson. Bud passed away February 2, 1977. Del worked in the shipyards during World War II and also worked at Northwest Airlines, Crown Zellerbach and retired from Fred Meyers in 1990. She is survived by her son Gregg, his wife Sally, grandchildren Steven, Cora (Chance) and Brody, great-grandchildren Dylan, Simone, Luke and Jalen, as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister Helen Rost and brothers Lyle and Eugene. Del was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Beam Collectors, Rose Center and Peninsula Senior Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 am at Hustad Funeral Home, 7232 N. Richmond Ave., Portland, Oregon, (503) 286-9663.
