David Douglas Hereford, 61, of Portland, Ore. passed away March 8, 2015, at his home surrounded by love with his family and friends. He was born in Walla Walla, Wash. on Aug. 15, 1953 to J. Wayne Hereford and Dorothy L. Browne, née Duncan. Following Wayne Hereford's death in 1966, Dorothy and her children moved to Lake Oswego, Ore. David graduated from Lake Oswego High School in 1971 and received a Bachelor's degree in Music from Lewis and Clark College. David married Jaye Hoyt Hereford on Aug. 1, 1992. David and Jaye traveled extensively around the world. David loved reading, music, growing his vegetables, astronomy and the outdoors, but mostly enjoyed being home with his family and his beloved dog Frasier. David co-owned Hereford Construction Co., which he started in 1978 with his brother Mark. Their company provided craftsman building and remodeling across the Portland metropolitan area. The company and work were featured in a number of homebuilding-industry publications. David is survived by his wife, Jaye; his children Nathan and his wife Sarah-Lynda, April and her partner Andy, Anna, Ian, and Gretchen; his mother Dorothy; his siblings Susan, Jay and his wife Karin, and Mark; his grandchildren Caleb, Everett, Madeline, Xavier, Dade and Ingrid; and many more nieces, nephews and cousins.
