Claude M. Faust died peacefully at his home in North Portland on September 22, 2020.  He was 88 years old.

Claude was born on July 31, 1932 in Pierz, Minnesota and was raised and educated there.  Claude worked for a time on a ranch in Jamestown, North Dakota and later joined the United States Air Force where he became a Staff Sergeant.

He was married to Lois Wolken in Vancouver, Washington on July 30, 1955.  They settled in North Portland and continued to live there since.

Claude was an electronics engineer and he started the Code-A-Phone company. He designed and built the first tape phone answering machine. Later he sold the company and became the Vice President of Engineering and head of Research and Development at Code-a-Phone.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He also built and raced Motorcycles and Cars.

Claude was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the North Portland Eagles Lodge.  He was also a Longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Portland.

Claude is survived by his children: David Faust and Diane Fisher; His brothers:  Mux and Patrick Faust; Sisters: Nettie Buesseler and Mary Buesseler; Grandchildren: Joshua and Michelle Fisher, Jerohm and Christopher Faust and Great-Grandson Dominick Faust. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, Daughter, Rebecca, and brother Joseph Faust.

A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Monday, September 28, 2020. Arrangements entrusted to Hustad Funeral Home.
