Obituary

Avis J Crockett began her Heavenly Walk on June 6, 2012. Born in Maryland, Avis spend most of her early life in the Midwest. She graduated from Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska in 1942 and entered Nebraska Methodist Hospital nurses training that same year. She moved to Portland, Oregon in 1948 & worked as a Registered Nurse at The Veterans Hospital. It was there she met her future husband, Leonard Crockett. They were married in June 1950. Avis, a RN, also worked at Bess Kaiser Hospital from 1959-1989, specializing in pediatrics and orthopedics. Avis enjoyed her retirement years gardening, buying antiques, shopping and traveling. She also enjoyed visiting with people & was blessed with an abundance of friends. Avis was a loving wife, mother, & grandmother & will be dearly missed.She is survived by her sister Myra Halbrook of Omaha, son Kenneth L. Crockett (Jean) of Yakima, WA, Daughter Marlene E Stellato (Tony) of Portland,OR, granddaughter Lori Marie Crockett of Prosser, WA and niece Jody Lovallo of New York. She is also survived by great granddaughters Bailey, Becky and Chelsea and her extended family Tina Warner (Craig), Jacob, Katie and Christopher of Yakima, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1984, Brother David Barrow and her parents. She was lovingly cared for at Isai's Adult Family Home in Vancouver, WA for the past three years. In Lieu of flowers please donate to the Oregon Humane Society. A graveside service will be at Skyline Memorial Gardens on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 1:00 PM
