Louise Pope
May 24, 1931 – June 8, 2025
Mickey passed away peacefully at her home in Vancouver, Washington, of congestive heart failure. She was 94.
She was born in Westport, Oregon and soon moved to Yakima, Washington. The family then moved to Linnton, Oregon and she attended Roosevelt High School. She met John Verbout, her first husband of 20 years. They moved to St. Johns, where they raised their family. They enjoyed many years of camping on the Oregon Coast and in Central Oregon, as well as travelling to places like Montana and Minnesota to visit family and a trip to Disneyland.
She met Russ Pope, her second husband of 30 years, and moved to Vancouver, Washington. During their marriage they owned race horses and started 5 Star Trucking Company. They traveled all over the country in their 18-wheeler, for 18 years. Russ passed away in 1998.
She then met Jim Sorenson, her partner of 20 years. They spent their years together traveling with family to Hawaii, R.V. camping at the beach, and trips to the casino. After Jim passed in 2018, Mickey spent her remaining years in Senior Living communities in Vancouver.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Eden Hospice team and her caregivers.
Mickey is survived by her four children, Johnny Verbout (Debbie), Larry Verbout, Gary Verbout, (Connie), Sandy McKnight (Jim), her six grandchildren, Darren and Kurt Verbout, Ryan and Christopher Verbout, Alex and Zachary McKnight, eleven great grandchildren, Tyler and Kassie, Lexie and Cearra, Megan, Hannah, Sophie, Karla, Luke, and Bradley and Austin, and four great-great grandchildren, Carly, Rylee, Alaia, and Benson.
