Annie Ruth Griffin, "Ruthie", was born on November 3, 1936 in Galesburg, Illinois to Frank and Lucy Tyler.  Ruthie was raised in Galesburg, but then moved to the Renton / Seattle area when she was a young lady.   She returned to Galesburg for a time in the early 1970's, but then came to Portland in 1975 and she has lived here since.

Ruthie worked at American Linen for a time but then served as a Matron at Jefferson High School for over 30 years until her retirement in the mid 2000's.

Ruthie passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2016.  She was 79 years old.

She is survived by her son, Jason Griffin and her sisters, Mary Henderson, Odie Campbell and Delores Simmons as well as her brothers, Allie Tyler, Bond Tyler and Jerry Tyler, numerous nieces and nephews and her former husband, Nathaniel Griffin.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Pillard, Mildred Congress, Malinda Simmons, Patricia Van Norman and brother Frank Tyler, Jr.

We were all put on earth to love one another and Ruthie was an example of that.  She was the epitome of Love.
