Alison Grace Lauderdale passed away March 23rd, 2026 at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon after suffering a pulmonary embolism. She was 40 years old.
Alison was born in Oakland, California to David and Susan Lauderdale. Growing up she lived in San Jose, California and Vancouver, Washington where she enjoyed participating in gymnastics, horseback riding through 4H, attending church and youth group at New Heights Church and making friends thru every event she participated in. She graduated from Skyview High School in 2003 and from Western Washington University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services. She was a delight to friends and extended family as she showed everyone around her love, kindness and respect,
While home for the summer during college, Alison worked at Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Washington as a summer intern. After graduation, she worked full-time at BGC, eventually becoming a Site Director and Area Director. In 2019, she started working at the Clark County Food Bank, serving as a Director of Community Programs until 2024. Most recently, she had been serving as Director for Next Success, a nonprofit organization that helps disadvantaged youth find careers and employment.
Alison was a long-time resident of the Humbolt neighborhood in North Portland. She loved the food, friends and fun things of Portland. In December 2025, she became engaged to Matt Carlson. Alison and Matt enjoyed doing puzzles, escape rooms, finding great bars and restaurants across the city, rooting for the many sports teams in the city (especially the Portland Pickles), and being with friends.
She was also an extensive traveler that enjoyed seeing the world. After college, she made trips to New Guinea, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Portugal, Iceland, and Vietnam as well as all over the United States.
Alison is survived by her fiancé, Matt Carlson; parents, Dave and Susan Lauderdale; brother Don Lauderdale and sister-in-law Katy Lauderdale; her niece, Helen Lauderdale, and nephews Harley, Haden, and Hunter Lauderdale. Because she was also an organ donor, she is survived by the recipients of her heart, liver, and kidneys.
A memorial will be held at New Heights Church in Vancouver, Washington on May 2nd, 2026 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests donations be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Washington in her name or by becoming an organ donor.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Legacy Emanuel Hospital for the phenomenal care that they provided Alison, her family, and the many friends that came to see her.
