Agnes Cecelia (Buhr) Torresdal died peacefully in her sleep on July 24 at the age of 95. She was born in Mt Angel, Oregon where at the age of 5 she met her life long love, Theodore Torresdal, in a one-room schoolhouse. They were married in 1942 and moved to the Kenton Neighborhood in Portland where they lived throughout their 63 years of marriage. Agnes worked in food services for Portland Public Schools for 18 years and was well known for her wonderful cooking and hospitality. She was an avid gardener and quilter and she delighted in caring for her grandchildren, instilling in them her love of reading. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted in 2005 and is survived by her sons Dennis Torresdal(wife Leslie Hulton) and Robert Torresdal,her grandchildren Rebecca(Torresdal) Arrieta,Rachel Torresdal,Thomas Torresdal,Jack Torresdal,Luke Torresdal,and Sam Torresdal, her great grandson Xavier Arrieta,and Nancy Zimmer who was like a daughter to her over the last 51 years. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 29th at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5227 N. Bowdoin in Portland.
